ABC Nail Challenge - Fireberry Red & Fluo Blue

ABC Nail Challenge
Day 6
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Fireberry Red
Joe Fresh Fluo Blue
The reason why I posted 2 photos for Day 5’s challenge is so that I can show more pictures of polishes that I never used or I used but never photographed it. But today’s challenge has 2 polishes, Fireberry Red and Fluo Blue.

Fireberry Red is a deep red with sparkly red and gold glitters and this is shown in (I believe) 2 coats. Fireberry Red was one of the specialty polishes from the Xtreme Wear line, but if you stalk Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens, you might be able to find one lingering around; that’s how I found mine LOL.

Fluo Blue is an azure blue creme that is shown beautifully in 2 coats. I definitely LOVE the formula and application of Joe Fresh polishes and I’m so glad that they opened a Joe Fresh near my work (5th Avenue, NYC) so then I can stalk their nail polishes! It was 3 for $9 and I believe $4 each? I got a few polishes from there and I would definitely consider buying more, since they are at a good price!

Galaxy

Hello everyone! Today's a non-nail post but it uses nail polish, so it's relevant in some way right? :P Hurricane Sandy is slowly approaching NY, which is keeping me home so I finally found time to vamp up this wooden jewelry box I purchased from an art store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It's a plain wooden box that I got for $4. I planned on doing something but then I decided I wanted to make it a galaxy box. I only did the top of the box, and I'm considering on whether I should do the entire box or not.

It started with this plain box like this:

Then, using a black acrylic paint, I painted the whole box black to create the base for the galaxy.

Using a number of polishes (I will list below) and a make up sponge, I created the galaxy look on the top of the box.

Polishes I used:
Cover Girl Boundless Color - Disco Dazzle
Essie Pink-A-Boo
Klassicolor (same exact polish as Kleancolor) - Aurora
Pa Nail Color - A125
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Fireberry Red
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Purple Gala
SaQu - 635
Wet N Wild Coloricon - The Crown is Mine
Zoya - Crystal

Thanks for stopping by and hope you like this post! :)

Barracuda

Helloooo everyone :) So I'm pretty psyched about tomorrow because I have orientation for another job that I went to the interview for and after the interview, they offered me a job!! The job actually starts in the middle/end of August but I'm going to have training and whatnot first. :)

Today I'll be showing a polish that I've been hunting down for a while and I finally found one in Rite Aid. It was on the top shelf and I had my brother lift me up so I can get it LOL rather than ask an employee. :P It took me 4 tries to finally find it - the other times I saw the display, it was already gone :(

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Barracuda is a soft pastel light blue creme that applies like a dream! Seriously, I was so surprised that it had good application and formula. It wasn't streaky either and it only took 2 coats! Definitely worth my wait. I almost resorted to eBay for it - and I'm glad I didn't haha. The happiness of finding and getting it myself felt better. :P

Hope you enjoyed and happy polishing! :)

Sequin Sandal or Wagon Trail?

November 24, 2010.

In my previous post about my mani of Sally Hansen CSM Sequin Sandal, a reader asked about how it compares to China Glaze Wagon Trail. And I thought, "Omg! Why didn't I think of that!?" So this post goes out to HappytPumpkin for this request/idea. :)

In a bottle comparison, you can see that there's silver glitters inside Sequin Sandal but that doesn't translate onto the nails.

This is a comparison picture of China Glaze Wagon Trail and Sally Hansen CSM Sequin Sandal. In the following pictures, it is a swatch of 1 coat each. Can you tell which one is which?

Here is the comparison of WT and SS with 2 coats each; first without flash then with flash

(the flash pictures include 1 coat of top coat each)

So if you couldn't tell, Wagon Trail is on my middle and pinky nails and Sequin Sandal is on my index and ring nails. In conclusion, WT has a darker base and SS has more shimmer. They are very similar and perhaps dupes.

hope you enjoyed,

P.S.: Catrice week (one Catrice polish per day) is coming up =)

Sequin Sandal

November 23, 2010.

This is another manicure I tried before I removed it, during my indecisiveness moment for a mani. Sally Hansen CSM Sequin Sandal is a dark base olive green with olive green shimmer. This is 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. I like it on, but I wasn't feeling it. :\ But nonetheless awesome!

Merry Midnight OR Problem Child?

November 22, 2010

I don't know if anyone did this comparison but I bought OPI Merry Midnight a long while back and recently I bought Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Problem Child. Debating on which color I was going to do my mani. I looked at Problem Child, then I remembered something looked REALLY familiar to this and I found Merry Midnight in my stash. So today's post is a comparison post! :)

Here's a picture of the bottles together

Here's a comparison picture at 1 coat of each

Here's a comparison picture at 2 coats of each

Here's a comparison picture at 2 coats of PC and 3 coats of MM.

Here's a comparison picture at 2 coats of PC and 3 coats of MM and 1 coat of top coat on each.

In conclusion: MM is more plum, opaque but shows more flakies than PC. But PC has a darker base and the formula is thicker.

hope this was useful,

Quick Update

Update: Life's still a little hectic for me and I'm trying to take my blog into a new direction, especially with a lot of the suggestions. Thank you to those who have gave me in their input and opinion which I'm definitely taking into consideration. I use a Sony Cyber Shot camera, not that good but I've had it for more than 2 years, on Saturday it will mark 3 years for my camera. I want to get a better camera, but I simply don't have the money but I'm definitely going to try saving, which is a hard thing for me to do. :\ School's crazy even though I only go to school 3 days a week (2 full days really and 1 class on Friday). I have an exam tomorrow so I'm just going to cram this post in.

I haven't gotten to use the suggestions but here is a swatch for you ~ I know you're probably tired of swatches, but I feel like I'm slacking off considering the past 3 posts are not really nail related except for the giveaway.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Purple Fiesta.

It's a limited edition polish that I picked up at Duane Reade. It's a burgundy shimmer with glitters. The swatch is 2 coats and no top coat. I really like this one because the color is different. It's like a light red/purple brown. :P

I hope to post more often as soon as I'm used to my newish schedule.
hope you enjoyed and don't forget to enter into my giveaway!

Featured Nails

Today I will post about nails, obviously, but not mine! :P My cousin Pauline came in last week for a few days to celebrate with the rest of my family for my grandmother's birthday. And of course, knowing I love nail polish and seeing my personal Facebook nail album, she wanted me to do them. So today's nails and toes will be called "featured nails" where sometimes/rarely I will post nails not of my own nails but what I did for my family. I've only done nails for my family; my two cousins and my mom (but I only do her toes).

Pauline wanted rainbow toes ;P However, this process took very long to decide which colors! And luckily my mom helped her out. I added glitter stars on her big toes but some of them came off during the night. Can you guess which colors they are? (answers are at the bottom of this post if you give up!)

For Pauline's nails, she picked out Wet N Wild's Tickled Pink (2 coats) and then I used some nail stickers on her ring and thumb nails which has a bow, one rhinestone and one pearl. I also lined the ends of her nails with silver glitter for the other nails.

- Essie Dramatic Drachmas (2 coats)
- Wet N Wild Dream Poppy (2 coats)
- Wet N Wild Blazed (2 coats)

Such Beauty

Work has gotten better now, I've gotten two shifts from my friend and finally got scheduled for one day! Lol it doesn't sound good that it's only one day but believe me, it feels good that they actually "want" me to be there and work. More work means more money and more money brings in more nail polishes! Anyways, I love my new uniform that I didn't have to pay for! Jeggings + cute tank and new flip flops♥ So comfortable and cute! Anyways since I liked Calypso Blue so much, I decided to add Hidden Treasure and oh my goodness, what such beauty on my nails! LMAO! I found excellent lighting in my bathroom, since I usually do my nails at night.

SH♥

Rite Aid has their sale again for most of the cosmetics for Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off! Totally awesome and I decided that I should pick up more Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicures! :) Unfortunately, I'm still on a tight wallet right now so I only got 2. But no worries, I LOVE THEM and I hope you love them too!

Calypso Blue
an blue shimmer but it has an green iridescent shimmer. The swatch is 2 coats and no top coat. AMAZING! SERIOUSLY WHY DID I NOT GET YOU EARLIER?! I liked the bottle at the store but once I swatched it, I fell deeper in love, I swear!! Totally beautiful♥

Purple Pulse
a dark purple shimmer. The swatch is 3 coats and no top coat. On the second coat, I noticed that it didn't spread evenly to the tips, or maybe it's my eyesight! x: but I just wanted to be sure that it looks even. Beautiful! I don't have that many real purple, only lighter shades so this is a keeper! :) You could probably get off with 2 coats rather than me, 3 coats.

hope you enjoyed!

Marble Attempt

Water marbling has become very popular among nail polish lovers. I've been wanting to attempt marbling for a while now, but just hesitant. So I tried it out a few days ago and at first it took me about 10 tries until I got it right.. well kind of right. The next day I tried it again because of course like people say, practice makes perfect. I still haven't 'perfected' marbling to my liking yet, but I'm sure that I will continue trying and getting better at it. Here are 2 pictures of the attempts I've made during the 2 days that I've tried marbling. Any input would be great :)
