Kleancolor?.............NOT!

So today's post is about a new brand to me, or so I thought! One day when I was getting off of work, some guy put out a table full of nail polish on the streets for $2 a bottle. And in NYC, there's always fold out tables full of things people are trying to sell, whether it be jewelry, sun glasses, scarves, t-shirts, cell phone cases, etc. So this was so new to me seeing someone sell nail polish on the street. I thought I bought Kleancolor but when I was swatching these yesterday on a nail wheel I looked at the bottle and said what the hell is Klassicolor?! LOL. But I looked online and the colors are the exact same as Kleancolor, right down to the number and name.

I picked these 3 out so fast the guy was so surprised haha! I guess my nail polish browsing skills came in handy! My favorite is Aurora (pictured left) which is the first bottle I grabbed =)

below is a picture of the bottles, LOL.

nail wheel swatches, YAY!
so here is the names & number of layers going from left to right
• Aurora #26 - light barbie pink base with iridescent round & star glitters - 2 layers
• Blue Satin #37 - dark blurple base with silver shimmer and strand glitters - 3 coats (could do 2 also)
Holo Blue #135 - light blue with dispersed holographic shimmer (slightly) - 2 coats

Hope you all enjoyed and happy polishing :)

Camo Loco

Today's a green swatch day :) It's Oke Doke Camo Loco, which is a fine light forest green shimmer. The swatch was 2 coats and 1 layer of top coat. I actually like this color and I was really curious since I haven't seen that many colors like this one. It applied evenly and good drying time as well. Formula was good, not too thick and not too thin nor watery. The best thing about it, it was $1.99 at Rite Aid =)

hope you enjoyed & happy polishing

Floral

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts even though I'm on spring break, I've been trying to work my butt off to make some money. And currently, I'm trying not to buy anymore nail polishes (except for maybe OPI Silver Shatter!) and I'm considering downgrading my nail polish collection. :\

But here's my current nails that I did yesterday night for my friend's party today. You've probably seen floral nails before and I've tried and practiced it and it hasn't come out right so I'm finally happy with how it came out =) I was also inspired by staring at Clara's floral nails which inspired this!

please excuse my dry hands :( I forgot to carry lotion in my bag

The base is Essie Mademoiselle then I made a gradient from the bottom towards my cuticles with NYC Gramercy Glitz, which is a pink pearl based opaque jelly packed with glitters. I did 3 coats of Mademoiselle and about 2-3 layers of Gramercy Glitz. I did a flower with NYC Long Time Lavender and the leaves are made with LA Colors Light Green nail art color and then traced everything with Kiss Nail Art in Black.

hope you enjoyed! :)

Amazing!

Hey everyone, sorry for being MIA! I'm back-ish since my exams are over... for now until finals and spring break starts on Friday for me. I'm going to try to be working a lot so hopefully that'll allow me to have more mani's since I'll be putting on and taking off a lot.

So on Sunday, I was strolling along Soho with my mom and we came across this guy who can free hand spray paint these in 5 minutes with a blank canvas. He doesn't spray them neatly or anything just sprays and sometimes uses a few props to help cover certain parts to make it look like that. It's sooo amazing! He also uses magazines and a ruler and a carving/sculpting tool.

But after I left Soho to go to Times Square, I saw another Asian guy doing it there lol! And to think he was the only one! But I do have a video of him doing the 2nd one in 5 minutes. I'll try to post that when I can. :)

Here's a picture of my current mani. that I took with my phone this morning since there was sun! We had great weather in NYC on Monday but Tuesday and Wednesday, it rained... boo! So much for good weather lol so today is another sunny day and I had to take advantage of that :P My nails are still in the process of growing but I couldn't help myself :P

This is China Glaze 3D Fantasy from their recent collection, Tronica. It's a red/coral holographic but it's not a lot of holo goodness compared to the previous 2 collections of holo (OMG & Kaleidoscope). It kind of makes up for missing out on those 2 collections. The mani. is 2 layers of Orly Nail Amour (which I got on sale for $3.99!!) then 2 coats of 3D Fantasy and 1 layer of top coat. :) I was debating whether to do a black crackle over and tested with my nail wheel, but my mom doesn't like the crackle effect haha! But I'll post that later.

Last thing on my agenda for today, I recently got an email from Sara about The Fresh Air Fund. The Fresh Air Fund is in need of host families for this summer. Host families are volunteers who open their hearts and homes to children from the city to give them a Fresh Air experience that can change lives. If you could help to get the word out it would really help us place these wonderful children into a loving host family. It's only for up to two weeks, but it's an experience that can change their lives forever.

hope you enjoyed,
and happy polishing! :)

Bringing It Back

Hey all! I hope everyone's doing well. I have awesome news.... I think I did good on both my exams today! :) Last month, I wanted to bring back a color that I feel I could've done a better swatch with. I guess it was because my nails were short in the picture like most of my pictures I've posted in the beginning of my blogging experience, but I've grown fond of having long nails and can't think of any color that would look nice on me with short nails. So when I had my long nails, I wanted to give Chanel Riva another chance and here it is. I hope you like it and I have a comparison post coming up (as soon as my nails grow a bit longer).

The mani. displays 3 coats of Chanel Riva and 1 layer of top coat. It's a light pastel baby blue creme with a blue shimmer which isn't overpowering.

Hope you enjoyed & happy polishing!

Cult Nails

Hey everyone! Quick update on my giveaway counting, I'm about half-way done... I believe! Lol and more than 234+ entries including additional entries and minus a few disqualified entries so far. I'm taking a break from studying for 2 exams I have on Thursday to post these long overdue swatches. You've definitely seen them tons of times, but here's my pictures! This set of pictures were actually my re-take of the original pictures that I was not satisfied with. Luckily there was better lighting in this picture and it looks a lot clearer than the original. Hopefully there will be better weather like this more often when my nails grow out. And don't worry I've taken in consideration and thought about what YOU would like to see on my blog. I hope to post about how I take care of my nails in the near future, when my nails grow out because I hate nubbins!

By now, I'm pretty sure that you've heard of Cult Nails, which is a nail polish company a blogger by the name of Maria of R3daily created. She created 4 nail lacquers and she just recently opened up pre-orders for her 2nd collection. And if you haven't gotten the first 4 nail lacquers maybe this will help you decide!

First nail lacquer up is Iconic. Maria describes this as a berry red with gold shimmer and red flakies.  The swatch displays 2 coats and 1 layer of top coat. What a total beauty ;) It worked with 1 coat for me but I used 2 in the swatch just in case.

Next up is Living Waters, Maria describes this as deep navy blue with green and blue micro-glitter. The swatch displays 2 coats and 1 layer of top coat. THIS IS AN AMAZING COLOR - I love ittttt!!<3 This polish was actually Maria's version in creating another nail blogger's color in creating how water looks at night with the shimmer. Definitely a must have and very unique in the nail polish world, in my opinion! I've actually worn this color for swatch and 2 mani's. :P

And here's My Kind of Cool Aid, which Maria describes as purple/gray with a shimmer; a "gravender" :P. The swatch displays 2 coats and 1 layer of top coat. This is definitely a different gray than what I'm used to seeing, which are normal or dusty grays.

Finally, the last one is Quench, which is described as a red polish with a very glossy finish. It definitely can work with different skin tones and the color changes depending on the lighting.

Overall, I love the formula which is B3F and organic =) and the drying time is quick as well. I'm very satisfied with Cult Nails and I'm definitely going to get the next collection!

Hope you enjoyed and I'll definitely try to finish with the giveaway entries as soon as I can (after exams?)
